Rear Admiral K S Hossain, (TAS), (CD), ncc, psc, BN is a veteran naval commando who was commissioned in 1980 on being graduated from Britannia Royal Naval College, UK. He attended under water Demolition Training at US Navy SEAL Training School in 1983 and earned his golden trident. He continued his pursuit of studies on Under Water Warfare and completed his specialization in Anti Submarine Warfare from ASW School, Cochin India. He was further specialized on Mine Warfare, Salvage Training under Chinese experts in 1988. Thereafter, he attended frigate ASW Officer’s course from Chinese Navy in 1989. He is a graduate of DSCSC Mirpur, Bangladesh and DSCSC, Wellington, India. He also attended Naval Command Course from Naval war College, USA. He has done his masters from the University of Madras, India. He completed his MBA from the Edward University, USA. He has successfully completed his Basic and advance French Language Course. An ardent seafarer, he has commanded combat ships of all sizes and types that are in the inventory of Bangladesh Navy. He commanded a training base and performed the duties of Senior Instructor (Navy) in DSCSC. The officer has performed the duty of Military observer in UNOCI under Blue Helmet in Ivory Coast. He performed the duties of Area Commander of Khulna Naval area. He has served as Director Civil Military Relations at Armed Forces Division. Presently, he is Director General Bangladesh Coast Guard. Under his able guidance, recently, Election duty and many successful anti-piracy and anti-smuggling operations have successfully been carried out by Bangladesh Coast Guard, which earned nation and international respect. The officer has participated in many praise worthy salvage and post disaster operations.
